What Sparks Me

In game jams, I find an intense playground to experiment, fail fast, and turn constraints into creative momentum. OTTO was about shaping chaos into clarity, supporting the team, keeping the fun alive, and turning quick ideas into a working game in record time.

My mission?
I didn’t bring my own idea to the table; I focused on enabling others, fostering a supportive environment,
and steering the team toward a shared vision while managing time and energy effectively.

Actively checked in with each team member to ensure smooth progress, no blockers, and to keep morale high throughout the jam.

Facilitate Alignment

Led structured brainstorms while staying neutral, creating a safe space for experimentation and ensuring everyone’s voice was heard.

Deliver Under Pressure

As the programmer, rapidly implemented the core mechanics and tested constantly to maintain a fun, playable prototype.

Balanced tight timing with twice-daily check-ins, managed scope with MSCW priorities, and kept the team moving forward under pressure.

Overcoming Challenges

Challenge 1: Balancing team ideas & jam constraints

How I Tackled It:

  • Led structured brainstorms to channel everyone’s ideas into a shared vision.

  • Acted as the team’s main support, ensuring no one was stuck or missing key info.

  • Anticipated time/skill bottlenecks to keep everyone focused on what mattered.

What I Achieved:

  • Enabled a strong team dynamic despite the 48h rush.

  • Ensured each team member’s input was valued without losing momentum.

  • Proof: Daily check-ins notes & Trello board screenshots.

Challenge n°2 : Time pressure in a 48h sprint

Solutions

  • Created a prioritization system (MSCW on Trello) to quickly sort tasks by impact.

  • Scheduled twice-daily check-ins (morning & afternoon) to stay aligned.

Achievements

  • Delivered a complete prototype on time, covering core features and visuals.

  • Maintained clear task focus, avoiding unnecessary stress or crunch.

  • Proof: Final build & delivery timeline in project file.

Challenge n°3 : Supporting a remote team member

Solutions

  • Adapted communications to asynchronous updates (Discord) to fit everyone’s availability.

  • Provided rapid feedback loops to keep the remote contributor involved.

  • Preserved team unity and consistent flow despite distance.

  • Avoided confusion or misalignment through transparent updates.
